The St. Paul's Hollywood Branch Manager will manage the new 15,000 square ft. library. This position reports to the District Manager, Leader of the Southwest District Branches. Together, they will hire and build the library’s dream team from the Department Managers to the entry-level paraprofessional.

This position will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations, ensuring the delivery of exceptional customer service, high productivity and maintaining high staff morale at a busy community library. Develops and directs staff in the provision of excellent customer service and programs, materials handling, performance management, collection development and maintenance, and resource delivery. Oversees the scheduling of branch library public services staff and makes emergency staff assignments. Applies and interprets policies in complex situations. Leads and supports the department managers in prioritizing collection-related projects and program initiatives. Makes recommendations to the District Manager, Leader of the Southwest District Branches in support of CCPL’s strategic plan goals and works with direct reports to execute as authorized.

Successful candidate must be a strong library advocate devoted to providing excellent customer service to the community. Must have the ability to exercise leadership and be able to motivate others to achieve these goals. Must be able to train and supervise staff and possess the necessary skills to motivate staff to be the best they can be. Ability to write concise reports, analyze community needs, the needs of the collection, the effectiveness of services and be able to communicate those needs to the appropriate departments and supervisors. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch operations. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree and three (3) years post MLS/MLIS experience to include two (2) years supervisory. Prefer public library experience. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technical advances. Experience with SIRSI ILS preferred. Must have extensive knowledge of library principles, trends and administration, knowledgeable of Children’s, Circulation and Reference services. Must use tact, courtesy and good judgement when communicating with co-workers and the public. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and sitting. Ability to shelve library materials as needed. Must be able to lift library materials including books, AV equipment, program materials and maneuver loaded book carts weighing approximately 50 to 100 pounds. Prior library experience helpful but not necessary. Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus.

Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification.

Hiring Salary Range: $52,582.40 - $59.217.60 annually depending on qualifications.
