Full time position available for an energetic, team-oriented librarian. In our fast growing library system, this candidate serves as the Manager of the Library Generalist Circulation Services at Wando Mount Pleasant. Also provides support to the Library Generalists for the locations in the East District; must be able to communicate all information from the Circulation Services Team Leader meetings.

This position requires broad knowledge and competency of bibliographic tools and sources, library methods, procedures, principles and practices, and emerging technology.

Must be comfortable proactively seeking out customers to offer assistance in all areas of the library (desk, roving, e-mail, phone, or additional methods of communication).This person must be able to supervise a staff of ten (10) full and part-time employees including hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating. Oversee automated materials handling (AMH) and sorting operations, including daily cleaning, troubleshooting minor issues and/or contacting the Hotline for repairs, writing and changing item sort plans, and preparing the AMH for usage during closed hours. Will generate monthly reports that include statistics from the AMH and self-check kiosks. Will coordinate with staff to create monthly AMH displays. Will serve as a senior staff person in charge of the facility.

Participate in collection development and maintenance in consultation with Library Collection and Technical Services staff. Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in various computer software, Must have the ability to follow established procedures and to perform work requiring considerable detail; possess the ability to carry out assignments independently, show initiative in making constructive suggestions for improvements in services and collections, as well as ability to interact pleasantly and effectively with staff and the general public. Must have the ability to work well with people in groups and individual settings.

REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited MLS/MLIS degree with one (1) year post-MLS experience. Library experience preferred but not required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technical advances. Experience with SIRSI ILS preferred. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch operations. Must use tact, courtesy and good judgement when communicating with co-workers and the public. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Must have stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, and bending. Must be able to lift library materials including books, AV equipment, program materials and maneuver loaded book carts weighing approximately fifty (50) to one hundred (100) pounds. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus.

Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification.

Hiring Salary Range: $43,513.60 - $49,004.80 annually depending on qualifications.
