CCPL is looking for a forward thinking; energetic and motivated leader with a passion for building a team that provides exceptional customer experiences for our library users. The ideal candidate will have proven success in developing and implementing programs and services to support and enhance the Library’s goals and objectives.

In our fast growing library system, this individual serves as the Manager of the Library Generalist Circulation Services at Wando Mt Pleasant and provides support to the Library Generalists for the other locations in the East District. Must be able to communicate all information from the system-wide Circulation Services Team Leader meetings, participate in collections maintenance in consultation with Library Collection and Technical Services staff and oversee the automated materials handling, sorting and shelving operations.

Other responsibilities include supervision of generalist support staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and overseeing workroom operations. Leads staff in promoting circulation by marketing the collection and providing reader’s advisory services. Assist patrons with use of print reference resources, with identifying and locating library materials using the library system catalog, with searching the Internet, and with using online databases as needed. Must be comfortable proactively seeking out customers to offer assistance in all areas of the library (desk, roving, e-mail, phone, or additional methods of communication). Ideal candidates must be a good listener and communicator, present an up‐beat, cheerful attitude, enjoy working cooperatively as a team member, and place top priority on customer service. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree and one (1) years post MLS/MLIS experience; prefer supervisory and public library experience. This position requires broad knowledge and competency of bibliographic tools and sources, library methods, procedures, principles and practices, and emerging technology. Experience with SIRSI ILS preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technical advances. Must have the ability to follow established procedures and to perform work requiring considerable detail; possess the ability to carry out assignments independently, and show initiative in making constructive suggestions for improvements in services and collections. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain branch operations. Must use tact, courtesy and good judgement when communicating with co-workers and the public. Must have the ability to work well with people in groups and individual settings.

Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Must have stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, and bending. Must be able to lift library materials including books, AV equipment, program materials and maneuver loaded book carts weighing approximately 50 to 100 pounds. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus.

Eligible for or hold South Carolina State Library certification. A valid South Carolina driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Hiring Salary Range: $43,513.60 - $49,004.80 annually depending on qualifications.
