Full-time position for an energetic, team-oriented individual with customer service experience. Duties include acquisitions-related data entry, order placement and tracking of materials, invoice review, contacting vendors and responding to internal customer requests for assistance. This position will also play a key role in a variety of departmental workflows (e.g. generating reports to identify and retrieve damaged last copies and superceded editions of reference and standing order titles; coordinating the various aspects of the acquisitions part of the patron suggestion for purchase workflow, etc.) The ideal candidate would have some familiarity with copy cataloging and editing item records. This position will also assist with the department’s new customer support system. Experience with technical support software is preferred. Other duties may include receiving and unpacking new material for the library system. This position may require strenuous physical labor including repeatedly moving boxes weighing up to fifty (50) pounds, unloading boxes of books onto book carts and pushing fully loaded book trucks weighing up to approximately one hundred (100) pounds. Candidates should be good listeners and communicators, present an upbeat, cheerful attitude, enjoy working cooperatively as a team member, possess excellent time management skills and place top priority on customer service. Some regular duties require self-direction. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities and scheduling requirements as needed to meet the coverage needs of the department. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: High School Graduate and two (2) years library experience. Must possess excellent customer service skills, both verbally and in writing, the ability to get along well with others and to communicate effectively with the public and with library staff. Must have a strong work ethic. Requires basic knowledge of modern library organization, materials and procedures. Must use tact, courtesy and good judgment when communicating with co-workers and the public. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite (specifically Excel) with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technical advances. Microsoft SharePoint experience preferred. Library acquisitions experience strongly preferred. Copy cataloging experience preferred. Experience working in a customer support setting, using technical support software preferred. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and sitting. Ability to shelve library materials as needed. Must be able to lift library materials including books, AV equipment, program materials and maneuver loaded book carts weighing approximately fifty (50) to one hundred (100) pounds. Prior library experience helpful but not necessary. Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus.

A valid South Carolina driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Hiring Salary Range: $27,684.80 - $31,200.00 annually depending on qualifications.
