Full-time position for an energetic, team-oriented individual with customer service experience. Duties include copy cataloging, editing item records, and responding to internal customer requests for assistance. The LG 4 will administrate a new internal customer support system for the department. Position will be responsible for assigning work to others and evaluating completed work, as well as coordinating with catalogers, selectors, and the acquisitions department to ensure that the customer support tickets are resolved effectively. The ideal candidate will have experience with technical support ticketing software and should be familiar with all aspects of library service. Candidates should be good listeners and communicators, present an upbeat, cheerful attitude, enjoy working cooperatively as a team member, possess excellent time management skills and place top priority on customer service. Many of the position’s regular duties require self-direction. Other duties may include receiving and unpacking new material for the library system. This position may require strenuous physical labor including repeatedly moving boxes weighing up to fifty (50) pounds, unloading boxes of books onto book carts and pushing fully loaded book trucks weighing up to approximately one hundred (100) pounds. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities and scheduling requirements as needed to meet the coverage needs of the department. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree and three (3) years library experience; Associate’s Degree and five (5) years library experience; or High School graduate and eight (8) years library experience. Must possess excellent customer service skills, both verbally and in writing, the ability to get along well with others and to communicate effectively with the public and with library staff. Must have a strong work ethic. Requires basic knowledge of modern library organization, materials and procedures. Must use tact, courtesy and good judgment when communicating with co-workers and the public. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technical advances. Microsoft SharePoint experience preferred. Copy cataloging experience strongly preferred. Experience working in a customer support setting, using technical support software strongly preferred. Experience as a team leader or supervisor preferred. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and sitting. Ability to shelve library materials as needed. Must be able to lift library materials including books, AV equipment, program materials and maneuver loaded book carts weighing approximately fifty (50) to one hundred (100) pounds. Prior library experience helpful but not necessary. Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus.

A valid South Carolina driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Hiring Salary Range: $30,971.20 - $34,902.40 annually depending on qualifications.
