Full-time position for an energetic, team-orientated individual with customer service experience. Perform routine desk duties under professional supervision, carry out procedures set by supervisory staff and help patrons locate and check out materials. Basic clerical and general office work. Must be comfortable proactively seeking out patrons to offer assistance in all areas of the library (desk, roving, e-mail, phone or additional methods of communication). Candidates should be good listeners and communicators, present an upbeat, cheerful attitude, enjoy working cooperatively as a team member and place top priority on customer service. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities and scheduling requirements as needed to meet the coverage needs of the public service desks in other departments. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: High School graduate or GED equivalent with excellent customer service skills, the ability to get along well with others and to communicate effectively with the public and with library staff and a strong work ethic. Must use tact, courtesy and good judgement when communicating with co-workers and the public. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technical advances. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and sitting. Ability to shelve library materials as needed. Must be able to lift library materials including books, AV equipment, program materials and maneuver loaded book carts weighing approximately fifty (50) to one hundred (100) pounds. Prior library experience helpful but not necessary. Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus.

Hiring Salary Range: $10.60 - $11.94 per hour depending on qualifications.
