Full-time position for an energetic, team-orientated individual with strong customer service experience.    Responsibilities include supervision of circulation support staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating and overseeing workroom operations. Provide general circulation services, including updating patron records, placing holds, locating materials and issuing library cards.  Assist patrons with use of print reference resources, identifying and locating library materials using the library system catalog, searching the Internet and using online databases. Perform routine desk duties under professional supervision, carry out procedures set by supervisory staff and help patrons locate and check out materials. Basic clerical and general office work. Must be comfortable proactively seeking out patrons to offer assistance in all areas of the library (desk, roving, e-mail, phone or additional methods of communication). Candidates should be good listeners and communicators, present an up‐beat, cheerful attitude, enjoy working cooperatively as a team member and place top priority on customer service. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities and scheduling requirements as needed to meet the coverage needs of the public service desks in other departments. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:  Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years library exprience or related experience, or high school graduate and 12 years library experience, supervisory experience preferred.  ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree welcome.  Must be extremely knowledgeable of Windows and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and comfortable with emerging technologies.  Ability to teach others, including patrons of different ages and the capacity to exercise initiative, good judgement and accuracy.  Must use tact, courtesy and good judgement when communicating with co-workers and the public. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.  Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and sitting.  Ability to shelve library materials as needed.  Must be able to lift library materials including books, AV equipment, program materials and maneuver loaded book carts weighing approximately fifty (50) to one hundred (100) pounds. Prior library experience helpful but not necessary. Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus. 

Hiring Salary Range:  $34,694.40 - $39,104.00 annually depending on qualifications.
