Full-time position for an energetic, team-orientated individual with customer service experience. Duties include assisting patrons with general questions, reader’s advisory, media and technology, audio-visual equipments, print reference resources, Internet search, and online databases. Perform routine desk duties under professional supervision; carries out procedures set by supervisory staff; help patrons locate and check out materials. Oversee media collection maintenance and assist with development. Create pathfinders and media displays for patrons, and plan and implement in-branch programs. Manage public room bookings requests via telephone, in person and email for Main Library. Basic clerical and general office work. Must be comfortable proactively seeking out customers to offer assistance in all areas of the library (desk, roving, e-mail, phone, or additional methods of communication). Candidates should be good listeners and communicators, present an up‐beat, cheerful attitude, enjoy working cooperatively as a team member, and place top priority on customer service. Candidate may supervise part-time library generalists and occasional volunteers. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities and scheduling requirements as needed to meet the coverage needs of the public service desks in other departments. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: High School graduate or GED equivalent and two (2) years public library or related experience. Must possess excellent customer service skills, present an up‐beat and cheerful attitude, be good listeners and communicators, have the ability to get along well with others and to communicate effectively with the public and with library staff, working cooperatively as a team member and. Must use tact, courtesy and good judgement when communicating with co-workers and the public and have a strong work ethic. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technical advances. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities and scheduling requirements as needed to meet the coverage needs of the public service desks in other departments. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and sitting. Ability to shelve library materials as needed. Must be able to lift library materials including books, AV equipment, program materials and maneuver loaded book carts weighing approximately fifty (50) to one hundred (100) pounds. Prior library experience helpful but not necessary. Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus.

Hiring Salary Range: $27,684.80 – $31,200.00 annually depending on qualifications.
