Full time position available for an energetic, team-oriented individual with customer service experience. In our fast-growing library system, this candidate serves as the Circulation Services Manager at Bees Ferry West Ashley Library. Must be able to communicate all information from the system-wide Circulation Services meetings, participate in collections maintenance in consultation with Library Collection and Technical Services staff and oversee the automated materials handling, sorting and shelving operations. This position requires broad knowledge and competency of bibliographic tools and sources, library methods, procedures, principles and practices, and emerging technology.

Other responsibilities include supervision of generalist support staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, hosting monthly one-on-ones and departmental meetings with staff, and overseeing workroom operations. Leads staff in promoting circulation by marketing the collection and providing reader’s advisory services. Oversees automated materials handling (AMH) and sorting operations, including daily cleaning, troubleshooting minor issues and/or contacting the Hotline for repairs, writing and changing item sort plans, and preparing the AMH for usage during closed hours. Will generate monthly reports that include statistics from the AMH and self-check kiosks. Will regularly serve as a senior staff person in charge of the facility and be a member of the BFWA Leadership Team. Assist patrons with identifying and locating library materials using the library system catalog, with searching the Internet, and with using online resources as needed. Must be comfortable proactively seeking out customers to offer assistance in all areas of the library (desk, roving, e-mail, phone, or additional methods of communication). Ideal candidates must be a good listener and communicator, present an up‐beat, cheerful attitude, enjoy working cooperatively as a team member, and place top priority on customer service.

Must be computer literate and knowledgeable in various computer software, Must have the ability to follow established procedures and to perform work requiring considerable detail; possess the ability to carry out assignments independently, show initiative in making constructive suggestions for improvements in services and collections, as well as ability to interact pleasantly and effectively with staff and the general public. Must have the ability to work well with people in groups and individual settings.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree and four (4) years library experience or related experience, or high school graduate and twelve (12) years library experience, supervisory experience preferred. ALA-accredited Master of Library Science degree welcome. Must be extremely knowledgeable of Windows and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint and comfortable with emerging technologies. Ability to teach others, including patrons of different ages, and the capacity to exercise initiative, good judgement and accuracy. Must use tact, courtesy and good judgement when communicating with co-workers and the public. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and sitting. Ability to shelve library materials as needed. Must be able to lift library materials including books, AV equipment, program materials and maneuver loaded book carts weighing approximately fifty (50) to one hundred (100) pounds. Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus.

Hiring Salary Range: $39,977.60 - $43,721.60 annually commensurate with education and experience.
