CHARLESTON, S.C. - “I guess I’m a little weird. I like to talk to trees and animals. That’s okay though; I have more fun than most people.”

Let your teens get a little weird at the library this summer with Bob Ross! Whether it's making sure every tree has a friend, or every cloud has a mate, we'll spend some chill time with a brush and canvas and an episode of The Joy of Painting. We'll follow along with the episode, pausing if anyone needs to catch up.

But remember: wear clothes you don't mind covering in paint because when it's time to clean your brush, you really have to "just beat the devil out of it."

Ross is best known for being the painter who effortlessly paints "happy little trees" in serene landscapes and makes it look all too easy. Ross' velvety baritone convinces even the most insecure painter that they can make a masterpiece.

Every episode is loaded with painting tips and life lessons from one of the most popular people to ever have a show on PBS.

“This is your world. You’re the creator. Find freedom on this canvas. Believe that you can do it, because you can do it. You can do it,” he says in one episode.
