The Bright Star Theatre will be in the Lowcountry on Tuesday, Feb. 13 and Wednesday, Feb. 14 to present three unique programs that honor African-American History Month. 

Tuesday, Feb. 13: “Meet Dr. King"
Main Library - 9:30 a.m.
West Ashley Library - 2 p.m.
Hurd/St. Andrews Library - 4:30 p.m.
Enjoy a performance that celebrates the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Learn about key moments in his life, from important lessons passed down from his father, to his childhood in Atlanta, GA, and some of his greatest moments as an inspiring leader.

Wednesday, Feb. 14:
“Let Freedom Ring: Music and Poetry of Black History"
Otranto Road Library - 11 a.m.
John’s Island Library - 2 p.m.
Take a journey through African-American history and culture. Listen to the speeches, songs and poetry of powerful Americans such as Frederick Douglass, Sojourner Truth, Maya Angelou and others.

Wednesday, Feb. 14: “African Folktales”
Dorchester Road Library - 11 a.m.
Mt. Pleasant Library - 3:30 p.m.
Celebrate Black History Month with sing-alongs, stories and humor in this inventive and high energy performance.
