Part-time position – thirty (30) hours per week for an energetic, team-orientated individual with supervisory experience. Responsibilities include supervision of support staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, and overseeing operations. Assist patrons with use of print reference resources, with identifying and locating library materials using the library system catalog, with searching the Internet, and with using online databases. Responsible for branch programming and community outreach. Perform routine desk duties, help patrons locate and check out materials. Basic clerical and general office work. Must be comfortable proactively seeking out customers to offer assistance in all areas of the library (desk, roving, e-mail, phone, or additional methods of communication). Candidates should be good listeners and communicators, present an up‐beat, cheerful attitude, enjoy working cooperatively as a team member, and place top priority on customer service. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities and scheduling requirements as needed to meet the coverage needs of the branch. Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years library experience or High School graduate and 12 years of library experience with excellent customer service skills, ability to get along well with others and to communicate effectively with the public and with library staff, a strong work ethic. Must have supervisory experience. Must use tact, courtesy and good judgement when communicating with co-workers and the public. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technical advances. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends. Must have the stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling and sitting. Ability to shelve library materials as needed. Must be able to lift library materials including books, AV equipment, program materials and maneuver loaded book carts weighing approximately 50 to 100 pounds. Prior library experience helpful but not necessary. Bilingual – English/Spanish a plus.

A valid South Carolina driver’s license with a safe driving record.

Hiring Salary Range: $16.68 - $18.80 per hour depending on qualifications – thirty (30) hours per week.
