Training Specialist / Human Resources Training and Development

Full time position. Reporting to the Training and Development Coordinator in Human Resources. This position coordinates training activities under the supervision of the Training Coordinator. Design and conduct new employee orientation and staff training; develop and construct training manuals and training aids; coordinate participation of external training programs for library staff; process travel and training payments and reimbursements; maintain training attendance records. Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Extensive knowledge of principles and practices of Training and Employee Development; basic statistical and record keeping processes. Ability to relate and maintain strict confidentiality and sensitivity to all employees. Ability to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain departmental operations. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential. Ability to work as part of a team and to carry out assignments independently.
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or related field and five (5) years of experience in Training and Development required. Master of Library Science Degree preferred with courses in human resources training and development programs. Must be flexible to assume additional responsibilities as needed to maintain department needs. Must use tact, courtesy and good judgement when communicating with co-workers. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods, policies and technical advances. Must have the ability to follow established procedures and to perform work requiring considerable detail; possess the ability to carry out assignments independently and show initiative in making constructive suggestions for improvements. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends as needed. Must have stamina for periods of walking, standing, reaching, and bending. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus.
Hiring Salary Range: $43,513.60 - $49,004.80 annually depending on qualifications.
