      This article provides an analysis of the fantasy young-adult film Inkheart, the 2009 adaptation of the 2003 novel of the same name by German author Cornelia Funke. Examining various film techniques such as perspective and selective use of computer-generated images (CGI), this article explores how the film and the novel are both representative of popular conventions within the young-adult fantasy genre. Through looking at major themes such as heroism and danger, this article explores new additions to the constantly expanding marketplace of films and literature written for and marketed to an adolescent audience.
