      The article discusses the implications of the success of the Islamic State terrorist organization in reviving the Abbasid caliphate of the Muslims by conquering half of Iraq and Syria. Topics included are the symbolism of their black banner for brutality and genocide against those with different religious beliefs, the commitment of leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi to subjugate Christians, Persians and Jews, and their rejection of state structures throughout the Middle East.
