The article examines the 60th anniversary of the Cuban politician and revolutionary Fidel Castro landing on Cuba's Southern Shore. Particular focus is given to his guerrilla headquarters, known as the Comandancia La Plata, which was located in the rainforest of the Sierra Maestra. Additional topics discussed include insights on the architecture of buildings at the site, the history of the Cuban Revolution and the author's reflections upon travel throughout Cuba.
