      This article focuses on two books "The Sunday Philosophy Club," and "In the Company of Cheerful Ladies," written by Alexander McCall Smith. Fresh from his triumph as the book "Author of the Year," writer Alexander McCall Smith will launch two novels this autumn. The book "Sunday Philosophy Club," is the first in a new series set in Edinburgh, and featuring accidental crime fighter Isabel Dalhousie, a well-heeled middle-aged woman who edits a learned journal on philosophy. Smith says that he decided that he hadn't really written a great deal about Scotland, although he has been doing a serial novel in the Scotsman since January 2004.
