    • Abstract:
The article presents information on the book "Economic Planning for the Peace," by E. F. Penrose. During the second World War, some of the least likely people publicly endorsed economic planning, among them Winston Churchill and Anthony Eden, and it was the official policy of the Western allies to prepare a series of orderly proposals for eventual peace. The range of the plans upon which Penrose worked is impressive: they include finance, raw material allocation, trade policy, food relief, exchange rates and capital development. And always before the planners was the massive and intractable problem of Germany.
