- Abstract: The word, materialized in music, produces effects, either of enchantment or strangeness, on the subjects who hear it. From specific production conditions, music fulfills, over time, the role of transmission of values, customs and habits. Thus, it is commonly used within the family for entertainment, educational activities, games, theater, reading, dynamics, among others. Thinking about the countless meanings that are inscribed in these songs, this work proposes a gesture of listening to the sayings that materialize in children’s songs, having as theoreticalmethodological support the Discourse Analysis of the French line, founded by Michel Pêcheux in the 1960s in France. From this perspective, we take the analytic corpus composed of clippings of discursive sequences of two children’s songs – O pobre e o rico and Com quem será? – for a better understanding of the functioning of memory in the stabilization of certain senses about the subject-child today. Through a critical look, we are interested in this gesture of analysis to produce the questioning of the obviousness of these statements about the child, relatively stable in the social environment, in view of new forms of possible readings on this theme.
