    • Abstract:
The article reports that Barclays PLC has started an 11-month project to reduce its carbon footprint by building an energy-efficient datacentre. The datacentre will be built using Dynamic Smart Cooling technology from Hewlett-Packard Co. (HP). The project is part of the bank's five-year program to reduce its CO2 emissions by 20% per employee and cut the amount of CO2 consumed against profit from 16.6 tonnes per £1m of income to 12.6 tonnes. The 2,600 square metre datacentre in Gloucestershire, England will run core banking systems and Great British retail payment system. It will also provide disaster recovery.
