      In this article the author offers her observations on the city of Havana, Cuba, as of spring 2013. Particular focus is given to the insights she made regarding Cuban society after she moved there at the end of summer 2009. Topics examined include the role of women in Cuba, the Soviet impact on Cuba and her relationship with a young prostitute named Sandra. Details relating to the life and work of Mariela Castro Espín, the sexologist, sex education advocate and daughter of Cuban politician Raúl Castro, are also discussed.
