      The article discusses positive sales for booksellers in Germany during the 2007 Christmas shopping season through the beginning of January 2008. Strong November sales were helpful, considering that the December sales were down, which many attributed to the bad timing of shop closings. Books by German authors, such as Julia Franck, Hape Kerkeling, and Cornelia Funke, were popular sellers.
