    • Abstract:
The article discusses the demegoric art of Demosthenes, an orator of ancient Athens, Greece, by comparing him with Pericles, a Greek statesman and an orator. The author has explored the characteristics of Periclean model and reasons behind Demosthenes taking deliberative poses of Pericles rather than adopting styles of a crowd-pleasing populist. He explains that the distinctive feature of Pericles was to persuade as well as to instruct the assembly. By citing arguments of writer Harvey Yunis, in parallel, and studying speeches of Demosthenes and Pericles, the author wants to draw the inference that adoption of Periclean orientations by Demosthenes might have been based on strategies of defining problems, diagnosing causes and making moral judgments.
