This themed issue about Reading rounds out a year in which two major events have coincided to make 2012 a year of celebrations in libraries around Australia -- the National Year of Reading (NYR) and ALIA's 75 Anniversary. The year has seen a change of leadership for ALIA, with the out-going Executive Director , Sue Hutley, who along with other founding partners, was instrumental in setting up the NYR, handing over to the new Executive Director , Sue McKerracher , who has also played a key role in driving ALIA's contribution to the NYR.
