      This paper presents the first novel of the Lebanese author Charif Majdalani entitled History of the Big House (2006). It studies the contemporary work written in French in three stages: the first shows how the family saga is halfway between history and fiction; the second examines the basis of memory traces the search of self through the past; the third explains the geographical and topographical insatiable desire of the narrator to his homeland, Lebanon.
