      The article focuses on developments in the coal industry in Colorado citing its status as the sixth highest producing state in the United States. According to the Mining Association, miners in the state are the highest paid industrial workers in Colorado despite industrial experiences of transportation problems and labor shortages. Coal mining is most important in Craig which formulates the core of the town's economic base citing how it receives additional funds from a portion of the royalties paid by the mines to the government.
