      The article discusses the summary judgment legal process in the U.S. as of March 2012, focusing on an analysis of the impact of the U.S. Supreme Court's rulings in several cases in 1986 which deal with the interpretation and application of Rule 56 of the nation's Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. Several empirical studies conducted by the U.S. Federal Judicial Center are addressed, along with an examination of the case Celotex Corp. v. Catrett.
