    • Abstract:
The article presents information on sleeping. We sleep because we need to rest. The brain needs time to recharge and muscles, bones, and skin need time to grow and, if necessary, to heal. We fall asleep because at night the brain produces melatonin, a chemical that makes us sleepy. Through the night, we sleep in repeating patterns, called cycles. Each lasts about 90 minutes and is divided into two categories, the rapid eye movement and the non-rapid eye movement.
