      The article discusses the characteristics and changes of immigration and asylum policies in Africa since 1960s. Topics discussed include the continent's restrictive asylum policy after the Cold War, the impact of domestic and international politics and national security concerns on the asylum policies and the economic instability which led to restrictions in hosting refugees. Also explored are the factors affecting immigration and asylum policies of African states.
