    • Abstract:
Electricite de France (EDF) has returned to profitability after a record loss in 2022, thanks to a rebound in nuclear output and higher power prices. The company's net income, excluding one-time items, was €18.5 billion ($19.9 billion) last year, compared to a loss of €17.9 billion in 2022. EDF's net financial debt has also decreased, but the company faces challenges in funding its Hinkley Point C nuclear project in the UK and building new atomic plants in France. The French government wants EDF to construct at least six new nuclear plants and adapt the country's grid to accommodate solar and wind generation. [Extracted from the article]
