    • Abstract:
A recent study conducted by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) examined the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on farming decisions in rural India. The study used data from the World Bank's rural household-level survey and found that the pandemic lockdown and related policies influenced on-farm investments and operations, such as planting and borrowing decisions. The research also revealed that farm households had varying perceptions of the pandemic's impact on their farming operations and that government cash transfers did not significantly affect their decisions. The study suggests that policymakers should focus on developing resilience and preparedness for future shocks. This research has been peer-reviewed and can be accessed through Wiley's Agribusiness journal. [Extracted from the article]
