    • Abstract:
Emma Roig Askari and her family have built their dream house overlooking the Mediterranean on the island of Ibiza. Despite her husband's initial reluctance, they were drawn to the island's offseason beauty and eventually found a mountainside location to build their home. The house incorporates a mix of regional Spanish style with international influences, including midcentury tapestries, skylights inspired by Valencia's Arab bath houses, and a staircase modeled after one in Pittsburgh's Carnegie Mellon University. Roig Askari's rooms are filled with a diverse collection of objects from around the world, including a fake Juan Gris painting by Hungarian artist Elmyr de Hory. She believes that beauty is universal and that even seemingly mismatched objects can coexist harmoniously. [Extracted from the article]
