    • Abstract:
The article emphasizes the evolution of legal resources on the Internet. As of April 2006, California is leading a trend toward providing assistance for self-represented litigants. According to legal aid advocates, the initiative has increased access to justice. Self-help resources are services to people who have chosen to represent themselves in trials. However, the legal aid community fears that the trend will aid in the institutionalization of a second-tier justice system for the poor. The U.S. government had been working with other organizations to provide online help like I-CAN!. This service helps the lay person to educate themselves about how to proceed in their own legal matters.
