    • Abstract:
The article reports on a redefinition of Southern culture which incorporates the experiences of blacks and members of ethnic groups, by scholars of the American South. Thadious M. Davis, professor of English at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill claimed that the expansion of the definition of Southern culture is based on the insistence that race and religion are linked and that blacks are Southerners too.
