      The article presents the author's views on the article "Genes, Tribes, and African History," by Scott MacEachern, which has been published within the issue. MacEachern's article focused on the innate weakness of the notion of tribes of Africa and difficulties faced to couple these artificially shaped units to patterns of human genetic variation. Certain methods and goals should be applicable to genetic diversity research to maintain a balance between ethnicity, material culture and gene pool.
