      This article reports on the Gold Lion award won by Chinese director Jia Zhangke for his movie "Still Life" at the Venice Film Festival on September 9, 2006. Zhangke was the second Chinese film director to have won the award. The first to win the award was Zhang Yimou in 1999 for his movie "Not One Less."
