The article discusses how local authorities in Great Britain have fared under changes to the Adult Learning Inspectorate with merged with the Office for Standards in Education, Children's Services and Skills (Ofsted). One change was the move to proportionate inspection. Many providers who had received satisfactory grades at first inspection, or subsequent to re-inspection, have encountered comparatively large inspection teams. Inspectors also routinely consider and specifically comment on providers' processes for recognising and recording achievement.
