      In this article the author describes her attendance at Fespaco, an annual festival of African motion pictures in 2009 held in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso. A number of topics are addressed in the article including the post-colonial films produced in Africa in the 1960s, the lack of finance for African features and the prominence of the motion picture industry in Nigeria.
