    • Abstract:
This is the theme of the Grand Lodge of California in its recognition of Public Schools Month in April, 1989. It has been said that education is the key to a living democracy. An enlightened citizenry has knowledge and the reasoning power to challenge and forces of tyranny and preserve the dignity of the individual and the society in which he or she lives. Education is a continuous process of learning, i.e. learning for living. This theme draws attention to the importance of education in preparation for the future. [ABSTRACT FROM AUTHOR]
