    • Abstract:
The article discusses the evolution of foreign distribution of U.S. motion pictures. In the motion picture industry wide distribution is a critical economic factor. The U.S. possessed advantages which acted as a stimulus to the development of the motion picture industry. These include the availability of natural scenery, an appropriate climate for outdoor filming, and a domestic market with high purchasing power. Analysts say the conditions after World War I provided the U.S. with an opportunity to expand the motion picture market overseas. During the Reconstruction period in Europe motion picture producers and directors from the U.S. were able to infiltrate the market.
