    • Abstract:
The article discusses the shipwreck of the Confederate Civil War ship "Modern Greece," which was discovered in 1962 off the coast of North Carolina and excavated by divers from the U.S. Navy. Many artifacts from the shipwreck were stored in water-filled containers and excavated from 2011-2012 by the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources. Archaeologist Sam Townsend helped to preserve artifacts after the initial excavation and archaeologist Nathan Henry led the second excavation.
