    • Abstract:
The article discusses Christian-Jewish encounters and relations in the pastoral work of the Unity of the Brethren with the German diaspora in Eastern Europe in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. The author focuses on Poland as well as on the tenure of Erwin Schloß as the pastor of the Moravian community in Lodz, Poland, from 1922 to 1925. Issues considered include the social conditions and customs of Jews in Eastern Europe during this time, efforts to proselytize among and convert Jews to Christianity, and the effect of antisemitism on Moravian-Jewish relations.
