    • Abstract:
This section presents an update on the television broadcasting field in the U.S. as of February 1989. The Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) series Ethics in America, which runs for ten weeks beginning January 31, 1990, features panelists from business, law and the news media tackling current problematic issues, from drug testing to corporate takeovers to the American criminal justice system. War and Peace in the Nuclear Age, another PBS series beginning January 23, 1990 and running 13 weeks, traces the development of nuclear weapons, strategies and politics since the detonation of the first atomic device, July 16, 1945. Black History Month is also being celebrated with style on PBS. American Playhouse is presenting a new version of Lorraine Hansberry's play, A Raisin in the Sun, including scenes written 30 years ago but never before seen. Interest in C. S. Lewis' The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe is running high since it aired in three parts in January 1989 on Wonderworks. This and other shows airing recently will no doubt be rerun--but if one have missed them, consider renting or purchasing some on videocassette.
