      The article profiles Chinese actress Gong Li, who stars in "Memoirs of a Geisha," "2046," and "Eros." In Wong Kar-wai's "2046," she plays a hardened gambler. She is a notorious courtesan who loses her looks and luck in the three-part film "Eros." Her first Hollywood film is "Memoirs of a Geisha," where she plays Hatsumomo, tormentor of the heroine, played by Ziyi Zhang. For years she resisted offers to go to Hollywood, but her reluctance dissolved with "Memoirs of a Geisha." Soon she will be working again with director Zhang Yimou.
