- Abstract: The article is devoted to the study of theoretical, methodological, organizational, economic and applied problems of the influence of mass media, advertising and the Internet on the ecological awareness and environmental needs. Formation of the ecological awareness in the greening training is stated. It is substantiated that the rational water use requires the development and implementation of a set of measures, that would ensure the formation of the environmental needs, ecological awareness through education, and media activities. In order to assess the impact of mass media on the formation of the environmental needs in terms of water use, an expert study was conducted, during which it was established that (most experts say) the influence of mass media on the formation of the ecological awareness in terms of water use is insignificant at an average and below average level. It is argued that there are numerous problems and contradictions that slow down the formation of the ecological awareness, implementation of the environmental needs, and the influence of mass media on them, namely: between the need to maintain the competitiveness of the national business, taking into account the openness of the markets, free trade zones, increasing competitive influence in the context of the globalization changes and the possibility and prospects of increasing the costs of the water treatment facilities; distrust of the media due to the oversaturation of the information field with unreliable information. It is noted that in order to strengthen the influence of mass media on the environmental awareness, it is necessary to develop a concept of the water use safety, promote the introduction of the greening awareness, transition to waste-free technologies, economic stimulation of the environmentally friendly technologies, and increase the environmental orientation of media activities. It is necessary to systematically study public opinion on the environmental issues, create mechanisms for attracting the population to environmental funds. To improve the regulatory and technological regulation of mass media activities, develop methodological recommendations on the structure of the departments of mass media relations, create a coordination centre in the structure of state authorities of Ukraine.
