      This article presents an interview with Lee Kline, technical director of Criterion. When asked whether criterion was the first company to produce spoken commentaries on disc, he refers to their first laser disc "King Kong" which featured commentary by a film scholar. He compares laser discs with DVDs. Kline explains the labor-intensive effort of remastering films. He specified the film "The Leopard," by Luchino Visconti as an example of a project that took some time to develop. He emphasize the need to work with the films' cinematographer or director.
