      The article offers information on the genealogy of Michiel van Musscher, one of the respected portraitists in Amsterdam, Netherlands during the seventeenth century. It states that the Delft marriage records and the Delft Weeskamer document of Jacob Fransz., as well as the Rotterdam marriage and notarial records, proved the claim of several authors that Jacob Fransz of Delft was the same person as Jacob Fransz van Musscher. It is stated in a Weeskamer proceeding that Jacob and his wife, Jannetgen Gerritsdr., had six surviving children. Jan Jacobsz., one of the two children who relocated to Rotterdam, married Catalijntje Michiels. Michiel van Musscher is one of the surviving children of this marriage.
