The article focuses on the growth of industrial research parks in the U.S. Midwest. The idea behind Purdue University's industrial research park is that its presence will create consulting work for university professors as well as to help along the efforts of the Midwest to revive itself as a center of the electronics industry. Other universities that are setting up their own industrial research park are Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the North Carolina State College of Agriculture & Engineering.
