    • Abstract:
      In 1972 the Center for Research and Development in Higher Education at the University of California, Berkeley, conducted a survey to find answers to questions raised by state and institutional policymakers. A questionaire requesting appropriation and enrollment information for fiscal years 1963-1972 was sent to each statewide coordinating or governing board. The data obtained was edited, placed in a more useful format, and returned to each state for verification and updating to include the 1973 fiscal year. The results of the 1973 survey contain responses from all 50 states. The data in tabular as well as graphic form in this document show what the trends have been over the past 10 years and for shorter time spans in state general revenues, state appropriations by institutional type, and enrollment. National and regional trends are displayed within the text, while the appendix contains graphs depicting each state within the context of the region in which it is located. (Author/PG)
