      This article analyzes racial health disparities and aging in the context of mass incarceration. It reviews what we know about the impacts of incarceration on individuals, families, and communities, and discusses how mass incarceration might impact racial disparities in health and aging. Given the role of the criminal justice system in the lives of minorities, and the deleterious effects of this contact, racial disparities in aging and health cannot be completely understood without fully understanding the consequences of concentrated mass incarceration in minority communities.
